  • Beta version of options to back up and restore stored courses and saved scorecards. This will be needed to upgrade from iOS 5.1.* to iOS 6.
    1. To enable back up and restore:
    2. You must have an active Internet connection.
    3. You must have at least one stored course and one saved scorecard.
    4. Enter “backup” (case sensitive) for the name of the current course. This will enable hidden options on the settings screen.
    5. Settings should now have two new options to back up and restore.
    6. Select back up and enter a key of your choosing (random characters will be added to your key so you won’t have the same key as someone else)
    7. Your courses and scorecards will be backed up to Disc Golf ScoreCard servers (this is a beta feature)
    8. Write down the full key shown at the bottom of the settings screen. This will be needed for transferring your courses and scorecards to another device and for upgrading from iOS 5.1 to iOS 6.

    • Why is backup and restore needed?

    Apple is changing how data is stored in web apps in iOS 6. Data used to be shared between the Safari browser and any web apps you saved to the home screen. Web app data will be separated from Safari in iOS 6. This meant we needed to create a way to move your data from Safari to the web app.

    You should do a backup of your data before upgrading to iOS 6 following the process above. Then you’ll be able to do a restore after reinstalling Disc Golf ScoreCard on iOS 6.
